About Us
We publish a free, modern browser version of Triangles — the classic dot-connecting strategy game — with a computer opponent, local pass-and-play, and a layout that works on any screen.
Our craft
One line. Total geometry.
Read the board, draw the line, claim what it closes. That loop is everything we design around.

What we make
trianglegame.app is the site behind our version of Triangles. The product is a two-player strategy game: a board of scattered points, one legal line at a time, and a triangle claimed — with an extra turn — the moment three points are fully connected.
We are not an app-store publisher and there is nothing to download. The game is the website. That keeps load times short, works on phones and desktops alike, and avoids an account wall. Wins, losses, draws, and streaks live in local browser storage on your device.
If you are comparing this to another triangles or dots-and-boxes site, this page only speaks for trianglegame.app. The rules and modes described in our how-to-play guide and FAQ match this exact build.
Our story
The "complete a shape, capture it, go again" idea is one of the oldest tricks in paper-and-pencil gaming. We treat that as a responsibility to get the rules exactly right and the friction as close to zero as we can.
The "complete a shape and claim it" engine goes back to Dots and Boxes, a pencil-and-paper game documented in 19th-century France under the name "la pipopipette" and long credited to the mathematician Édouard Lucas. Its rule — finish the last side of a shape and you capture it, then move again — turned out to be one of the most durable ideas in paper-and-pencil gaming, and it has been reinvented on grids, hexagons, and scattered points ever since.
Triangles takes that same engine and drops the grid entirely. Points scatter freely across the board instead of sitting in neat rows, lines can run any distance as long as they do not cross another line or a third point, and every captured shape is a triangle rather than a unit square. That single change turns a game of memorized grid patterns into a game of reading whatever geometry happens to land in front of you.
trianglegame.app is an independent, modern browser implementation of that ruleset. What is new here is a rendering that scales cleanly from a phone to a wide desktop screen, a computer opponent tuned across three difficulty levels, synthesized sound with a real mute, and a pass-and-play mode for two people sharing one screen — none of which the pencil-and-paper original ever had.
What we stand for
Open the page and a board is already scattered. No account wall, no download, no splash video — the first line is legal before you finish reading this sentence.
A computer opponent with three real difficulty levels, or pass-and-play with a friend on the same screen. Nothing is gated behind a "pro" toggle and nothing nags you to install an app.
Wins, losses, draws, best margin, and streak per mode live on your device. We do not hold your record hostage behind a login, because there is no login.
The whole game is free forever. No energy meters, no interstitial video ads between matches, no surprise paywall on the Hard difficulty.
Who it is for
trianglegame.app is a family-friendly game with no chat and no store. A poor fit if you want a large-scale multiplayer lobby; a good fit if you want a sharp two-player strategy game, exactly as you remember dots-and-boxes-style games, on whatever screen is nearby.
A match takes two to six minutes depending on the board. Triangles is built for a phone on the couch or a browser tab between tasks, not a long campaign.
There is no clock forcing a move and nothing to react to. The entire challenge is counting the lines still available and choosing which one to give up last.
Your record stays on the device you played on. That is a deliberate trade: instant play and real privacy, with no cloud restore.
Why this site
Triangle and dots-and-boxes style games have plenty of implementations online. This one exists to ship a single honest, fast version — correct rules, a real computer opponent, and no clutter.
Easy plays loosely and misses obvious captures. Normal always takes a free triangle and avoids handing you one. Hard also looks a move ahead to pick the strongest capture chain and the least costly sacrifice — three genuinely different games, not one difficulty with a label changed.
Vs. a friend uses the exact same board, rules, and extra-turn logic as vs. the computer — just with two people instead of one, and its own separate stats.
No auto-playing video, no fake "download our app" banners, no dark patterns around the settings. The how-to-play guide and FAQ describe this exact engine, not a generic write-up.
How we build
The game runs entirely on the web: fast loads, drag / tap / keyboard controls, and progress that stays local unless you clear your browser data. We use lightweight analytics to see what helps players — never to gate the game behind a profile. The engine on the home page is the one described on our rules pages, so search results and the live game never drift apart.
Phone, tablet, and desktop share one board. Drag with a mouse, tap on a touchscreen, or use Tab and Enter from the keyboard.
Wins, losses, draws, best margin, and streak per mode are stored locally. You own the continuity of your record without signing up.
We watch aggregate usage through Google Analytics to improve pacing and polish. Details are in our Privacy Policy — never as a sales pitch.
